War on Revenge

The War on Terror is a misnomer. It should more appropriately be termed the War on Revenge. Specifically, we are waging a War on Revenge Against Us. Certainly 9/11 was an act of revenge against us for supporting the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the Israeli invasion of Lebanon. (See previous blog "Why They Hate Us" Jan. 06) Similarly, the Israeli Lobby pushed us into war against Iraq in revenge for Saddam Hussein's humanitarian monetary support to the homeless extended families of Palestinian suicide bombers whose homes the Israelis had bulldozed in revenge. The Israelis preemptively assassinate suspected militants, killing bystanders, including children, in the process. In revenge, Palestinians fire rockets into Israel. In revenge, Israelis shell Gaza, killing more bystanders, including children. (Note: such Israeli murder is never designated "terrorism." That term is reserved for the other side.) In revenge, the Iranian President calls for Israel's destruction. In revenge, the Israeli Lobby is pushing us to bomb Iran. Meanwhile, in Iraq, Sunnis kill Shiites thought to be collaborators with the occupiers. In revenge, the Shiites kill Sunnis. Civil war ensues. In Afghanistan, the US bombs Afghan civilians ("collateral damage"), and in revenge more Afghans join the Taliban. The neoconservatives wage War on Revenge and in the process create more vengeful people bent on revenge. Diplomacy and peace negotiations are the answer, but the neoconservatives are allergic to diplomacy. The secret truth is that they love revenge because perpetual war enables Israel to keep its stolen land.
