Due to our support of Israel's occupation of Palestine, the US has been targeted for some time, as with the 1970's Arab oil embargo. James Bamford writes, "Thus, by early 1995, terrorists had attempted to bring down the World Trade Center, were planning to blow up airliners, and were exploring the possibility of turning passenger planes into weapons of mass destruction and crashing them into American buildings......It was equally clear that the reason for the attacks was the country's support for Israel and its occupation and treatment of the Palestinians."
